I love a murder mystery, I always have – not the scandi-noir buried alive type in with a chisel jawed detective racing from his Ikea house in his Volvo and getting there just too late; no, more your tea-shop, vicars, villages and quaint towns. The kind where murders take place over a second place at a vegetable competition and feuds rage over years and simmer over at cricket matches and fetes.

Reading has always been a great pleasure but my favourite books of all are those murder mysteries that whisk you away into another world. Despite the ever-increasing body count you feel strangely comforted as your favourite characters work their way through the clues.
